Who is Marko Bosnjak?

Born in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana in 1974, Bosnjak graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana in 1996 and became an ECHR judge in 2016.

Bosnjak had served as the court's vice-president since 2022.

Siofra O'Leary took the presidency of the court in 2022 and earned the title of "the first female president of the ECtHR".

The President of the ECtHR is elected by the Court's General Assembly for a 3-year term.
