State news agency IRNA reported that they were found guilty of plotting to target a missile and defense equipment manufacturing factory in the center of the city of Isfahan under the Iranian Defense Ministry in 2022.

It was also claimed that the operation was designed by the Mossad and that the four men had been trained by the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) in an African country before entering the country.

It was reported that all four of those executed were Iranian citizens, namely Mohsen Mazloum, Mohammad Faramarzi, Wafa Azarbar and Pejman Fatihi.

The execution came after Iran's Supreme Court upheld the death sentences handed down by another court in September.

In 2022, Tehran announced that agents of the Iranian intelligence service had broken up a Mossad-linked group allegedly planning terrorist operations inside the country, arrested all members of the group and confiscated a large amount of weapons and explosives.
