An official, who requested anonymity, spoke to The Associated Press about the stabbing of Chauvin, the ex-cop who killed Floyd.

The official said Chauvin was seriously injured after being stabbed by another inmate at the federal prison in Arizona, where he was serving his sentence.

A statement from the US Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed the stabbing but did not name Chauvin.

Staff at the prison intervened and brought the incident under control and the injured inmate was taken to hospital for treatment, the statement said.
GEORGE FLOYD İNCİDENT

In Minneapolis, Minnesota, 46-year-old George Floyd, an African American man, begged for minutes "I can't breathe" as 44-year-old police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee against his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds while he was detained on suspicion of fraud on May 25, 2020.

Floyd died in the hospital where he was taken by the emergency medical teams that arrived at the scene, and the images of the incident inflamed the debate on police violence against black people in the country and caused violent protests.

Chauvin, who was accused of causing Floyd's death, was taken into custody 4 days after the incident, tried on charges of 2nd and 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter and sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
