With smartphones becoming a constant part of our lives, the habit of spending time using the phone in the toilet has become one of the bad habits that many people have acquired.

We can spend long periods of time on the toilet with our phone in our hands without realizing it. Sitting on the toilet with the phone for long periods of time can lead to rectal and anal problems such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures and even rectal prolapse, where the rectum protrudes from the anal opening, potentially requiring surgery.

Dr. Saurabh Sethi said, "Staying on the toilet for long periods of time looking at your phone while using the large toilet can put pressure and pain on your rectum and anus. This can lead to hemorrhoids and anus fissures and prolapse of the rectum," says Dr. Saurabh Sethi.

Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic warn that anus fissures and hemorrhoids are very painful and dangerous, while the biggest problem is rectal prolapse. In addition, Dr. Sethi makes the following statements on the subject: "The most serious is prolapsed rectum. In adults, surgery may be needed to cure it," says Dr. Sethi.
