Norwegian Kristoffer Koch had completely forgotten about the 22 dollars worth of Bitcoin he bought. Bitcoin, which he bought in 2009 when he was only 25 years old, came one day and changed his life.

Deciding to read an old document written in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto, who invented it that year, the Norwegian man became fascinated by the technology and bought 5,000 Bitcoins worth $22. But over the years, Koch forgot about his investment. When 2013 rolled around, Koch remembered his great investment.

"AT THAT TIME, YOU COULD ONLY BUY SOCKS"

"In those days, alpaca socks were the only product that could be bought, so I moved on with my life and stopped thinking about this venture and focused on my business instead," says Koch, describing his investment.

Recalling his investment years later, Koch held 5,000 Bitcoins worth around $850,000.

Koch told the Norwegian media

"Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined it would be worth that much. It's very strange, these psychological reflexes that allow us to attach value to something that has no value in itself."

IT TOOK HIM A WHILE TO REMEMBER THE PASSWORD

Bitcoins are usually stored in encrypted wallets. In order to access this wallet, you need to remember the password. Koch added that remembering the password took some time and was quite stressful.

Koch bought a luxury apartment in Oslo with his earnings and continues to use the rest.
