Speaking to CBS News, Harris said Israel has a "right to defend itself."

Harris emphasized that "Hamas and Palestinians should not be considered the same," adding that "Palestinians deserve the same security, determination and dignity as Israelis."

Pointing out that the rules of war should be adhered to in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Harris emphasized the importance of continuing the flow of humanitarian aid to Palestine.

"We have no plans or intentions to send troops to Israel or Gaza," Harris said, calling on Iran not to get involved in the issue.
