WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus made evaluations to the press members after a program he attended in Lyon, France.
Ghebreyesus expressed his concern over the tensions between Israel and Palestine and expressed his sorrow for those who have lost their lives and families in both Israel and Palestine.
Ghebreyesus said that those who need support in the conflict should be supported and those who need protection should be protected.
Recalling his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo on October 9, Ghebreyesus said that Sisi agreed to allow the delivery of medical supplies to Palestinians in Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.
"We need a humanitarian corridor to provide medical services to Gaza," Ghebreyesous said.
"They need food, medical services and supplies," Ghebreyesus said, pointing out that this corridor will have an important function in protecting and providing support to civilians in Gaza.
On October 10, WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic called for the opening of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza to deliver critical medical supplies.
