According to the written statement of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), 2 soldiers serving in the navy conducting "operations" off the coast of Somalia disappeared at sea on the evening of January 11. While search and rescue operations have been launched in the region, it was stated that additional information will not be given for "security reasons" until the operations are completed.
It was shared that the missing soldiers were deployed "in the US 5th Fleet (C5F) area of operations to support various missions".
