Actor Johnny Wactor, known for his role in the long-running US soap opera General Hospital, died at the age of 37 after being shot during a suspected robbery in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles police department confirmed that the actor was confronted by three men trying to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle and was gunned down by them around 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Wactor was taken to a local hospital where he died after officers arrived on the scene.

Wactor's manager David Shaul confirmed his death to Variety, saying, "Johnny Wactor was an amazing person. Not only a talented actor dedicated to his craft, but also a true moral example to all who knew him. We stand behind his hard work, perseverance and never give up attitude."

WHO IS JOHNNY WACTOR?

Wactor was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1986. His first television role was on the Lifetime drama series Army Wives, and he has also guest-starred on shows such as Westworld, The OA and Criminal Minds.

From 2020 to 2022, Wactor played the character Brando Corbin in more than 160 episodes of General Hospital.
