"At around 9 a.m., an Air Force plane was flying over the village of Petropavlovka in the Voronezh region when it was urgently discharged its aviation ammunition," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
No one was killed or injured in the incident, but the private property of six people was damaged, it said.
An investigation into the incident has been launched and a commission has been sent to the scene to inspect the damage, the ministry said.
Images shared on social media showed some buildings heavily damaged and a large crater in the center of the village.
