The NRA said Vullo pressured banks and insurance companies to blacklist it after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 people dead in 2018.

The ACLU represented the group, and the Biden administration argued that some of its claims should be allowed to proceed. Vullo argued that she had properly investigated NRA-endorsed insurance policies, which are sometimes called "murder insurance." She said that she had spoken out about the risks of doing business with gun groups, but that she had not exerted any improper pressure on companies, many of whom were distancing themselves from the NRA at the time.
