Israeli state television KAN reported that the government has approved regulations allowing the closure of television channels that "pose a threat to state security".
According to the decision, it is possible to close Al Jazeera offices in Israel and confiscate its equipment.
The report quoted Israeli officials as arguing that Al Jazeera's broadcasts endanger Israeli soldiers and citizens.
Al Jazeera television did not comment on the Israeli government's decision.
It was announced that the closure of Qatar-based Al Jazeera's offices in Israel was supported by the Israeli Foreign Intelligence Agency Mossad, Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, Defense Minister Yoav Galant and the Foreign Ministry.
