In April, Boeing voluntarily reported that it may not have completed the necessary inspections to verify that some 787 Dreamliner airplanes had adequate connections and grounding where the wings meet the fuselage, the FAA said in a statement.
The statement said Boeing is investigating whether it completed the inspections and whether company employees falsified aircraft records, adding that the company is also re-examining all 787 aircraft in its production system and needs to create a plan for the fleet in service.
The statement emphasized that the FAA will take all measures to ensure the safety of airline passengers while the investigation continues.
