According to experts, billions of electronic devices are thrown away every year, most of which are not even halfway through their useful life. In addition to their environmental impact, the value of the raw materials in these devices is estimated at 91 billion dollars. Yet only a quarter of all this electronic waste is recycled.

Electronic devices contain substances that are extremely harmful to the environment, such as plastics and heavy metals. United Nations experts call for conscious consumption as well as investment in the recycling sector.

According to statistics, the amount of electronic waste could triple by 2030.
