Experts say the Israel-Hamas war is an unprecedented disinformation storm. Yet both sides accuse the other of disinformation.

Musk, on the other hand, supported a post directed at him and stated that he thinks the reactions to the platform are wrong. "There is much less misinformation here than on other social media because Community Notes is not run by a single company, so there is real information to drown out the misinformation of traditional media," Musk said.
Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for digital services, sent a letter to Elon Musk, the owner of the X platform, formerly Twitter.
Sharing his letter from the X platform, Breton stated in his letter that there were indications that the X platform was used to spread illegal content and misinformation in the EU after the attack on Israel by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
Breton reminded that the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) imposes strict obligations on content, among which some violent or terrorist content should be removed as a result of warnings from the relevant authorities, and that they have seen that they have not been removed despite the warnings of the relevant authorities.
Breton also noted that there have been reports of the dissemination of a large number of false and manipulated images and information on the X platform, including images that have nothing to do with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, old images and even fragments of computer games. Breton therefore requested that the X platform take the necessary measures and provide information to his team, that X officials be in contact with Europol and relevant law enforcement agencies, and that requests be responded to quickly.
The EU has reiterated that it has taken a clear stance against disinformation in the Israel-Hamas conflict and will not tolerate it.
Elon Musk, too, continues to face backlash, even though he has often stated in a post that he 'defends freedom of expression but opposes all forms of anti-Semitism'.
