In his post on Thursday evening, Snoop Dogg wrote, "After much thought and talking to my family, I have decided to stop smoking."
The famous rapper asked that his privacy be respected in this process.
The post, which was viewed by approximately 79 million people in 13 hours and liked by 500 thousand people, surprised many of Snoop Dogg's fans.
Throughout his career, Snoop Dogg has often emphasized marijuana use and mentioned it in many of his songs.
