Sam Altman, CEO of AI company OpenAI, has announced the arrival of a new GPT model. In a recent interview on Lex Fridman's podcast, Altman said that an incredible new model is coming this year, but did not specify that it will be called GPT 5.

WHEN WILL GPT-5 COME OUT?

When asked when the GPT-5 is coming out, Sam Altman said, "We're going to release a great new model this year. I don't know what we're going to call it."

NEW MODEL IN THE COMING MONTHS

Altman also said he expects OpenAI to release the new model "in the coming months," but added, "We have a lot of other important things to release first."

"I'M EXCITED THAT IT'S SMARTER"

When asked what he was excited about in the transition from GPT-4 to GPT-5, Altman said, "I'm excited about it being smarter. I know that sounds like a simplistic answer, but I think what's really special is not that it's getting better in one area and worse in other areas. He's getting better in every area. I think that's really cool."
