In a written statement made by the Russian government, it was stated that measures were taken regarding sugar exports in order to maintain stability in the country's food market.

Accordingly, sugar exports were banned until August 31, 2024, while exports to Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia were exempted in certain amounts.

According to the data of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, while 6 million tons of sugar is consumed annually in the country, approximately 6.9 million tons of sugar is expected to be produced this year.
