A US official announced that there was a rocket attack on the base where US troops are located in western Iraq.
Stating that the attack was the second attack on bases in Iraq since February, the official said, "Yesterday there was an attack on Ain al-Asad Air Base that did not cause injury or damage. This was the second attack on US forces since February 4."
From October 2023, when Israel's offensive against the Gaza Strip began, until last February, there were more than 165 attacks on US troops in Iraq and Syria.
On the other hand, on April 21, five rockets were fired from Iraqi territory at the Harab al-Jir base where US forces are stationed in the Hasakah region of Syria.
