According to Polish state agency PAP, Gdansk police spokesman Piotr Pawlowski said a case is being investigated against a priest suspected of committing a series of sexual offenses against children under the age of 15.
"The 64-year-old allegedly took advantage of the trust arising from his role as a spiritual guide under the pretext of fulfilling religious practices to manipulate his victims into sexual intercourse or other sexual acts," Pawlowski said.
The suspect, Polikarp N, was heard on a total of 4 charges of 14 crimes against children.
At the prosecutor's request, the court issued a 3-month detention order for the priest.
The suspect denied the charges and refused to comment.
