According to CNN, in a statement made on the official website of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it was reported that more than 57 people who consumed deli products from the US-based Boar's Head company were hospitalized.

It was stated that since May, 9 people who ate sliced deli products from Boar's Head have died from food poisoning due to infection with listeria bacteria.

Announcing that the number of cases may be higher than those reported so far, the CDC emphasized that this is the largest listeria outbreak in the US since 2011.

PROBLEMATIC PRODUCT

Health authorities in the US state of Maryland had detected listeria bacteria in a delicatessen product produced by Boar's Head.

The company recalled more than 3 million kilos of deli products due to the risk of bacteria. In a statement made by the company, it was reported that all of the recalled products were collected from the market shelves.

Listeria bacteria causes symptoms such as high fever, vomiting and diarrhea. Elderly people with weak immune systems, pregnant women, infants, AIDS patients and diabetics are most affected by the bacteria.
