Asteroid 2024 BJ, newly spotted by astronomers, will come closer to Earth on January 27 than the average distance to the Moon.

The asteroid, which is the size of an airplane, will pass within 354,000 kilometers of the Earth, Live Science reported.

According to NASA, the flying space rock will reach its closest point to Earth at 20.30 Turkish time. This distance will be closer than the Earth's average distance to the Moon.

According to the Virtual Telescope Project, even though the 2024 BJ will get "very close" to Earth, it will not pose any risk.
