According to Kuwait's official news agency KUNA, the country's new Emir Sheikh Mashal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah announced the formation of a new government consisting of 13 ministers headed by Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah.

Fahd Yusuf al-Saud al-Sabah will serve as Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and acting Interior Minister. Abdullah Ali Abdullah al-Yahya was appointed Foreign Minister.

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawwaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah passed away on December 16, 2023, and the new Emir Sheikh Meshaal appointed Salim as prime minister to form the cabinet on January 4.

Salim has previously held a number of political and academic positions, including Kuwaiti Ambassador to Washington, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
