Armed violence: more than 1300 children killed in 9 months

According to data shared by the Gun Violence Archive, which compiles gun violence incidents in the country from 7,500 sources on a daily basis, the number of children killed by gun violence has increased to 1324 since January 1.

Official data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the number of children killed in gun violence in the US increased by 50 percent between 2019 and 2021.

According to these results, among the causes of child deaths under the age of 18 in the country, armed violence has risen to the first place, surpassing traffic accidents with an average of 3.6 per day.

According to statistics shared by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in 2021, an average of 3 children died in traffic accidents per day in the US.

More than 32,500 people died in armed violence in the last 9 months

According to the data on the website of the Gun Violence Archive, the total number of people who have lost their lives due to gun violence in the US since the beginning of the year is recorded as 32,548 and the number of injured as 28,338.

In the same archive records, it was stated that 1096 of the 1324 children who lost their lives in armed attacks were between the ages of 12 and 17 and 230 were under the age of 11.

It was also shared that a total of 3,570 children under the age of 18 were injured in armed attacks in the last 9 months.
