According to a written statement from the White House, US President Biden spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU Council President Charles Michel, German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna about aid to Ukraine.
Reiterating the commitment to support Ukraine as long as it maintains its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Biden and the leaders discussed efforts to provide Kiev with much-needed weapons and ammunition, strengthen its air defenses, and repair and strengthen its infrastructure, particularly its energy infrastructure.
They also discussed Ukraine's economic recovery and working with the global community to address the energy, economic and food security challenges caused by the war.
