Tajani, who went to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine for the European Union (EU) Foreign Ministers Meeting, said in a statement here that Italy will sign the agreement on the reconstruction of the Odessa Cathedral in order to give a clear cultural and political message in favor of Ukraine, "We are here because we want to strengthen Ukraine."
Tajani stated that it is not possible to achieve peace without Ukraine's freedom and independence.
Regarding the discussions on the lack of new funding to continue support for Ukraine in the temporary budget adopted by the House of Representatives and the Senate in the US, Tajani said, "The US will make its decision. In my opinion, it would be a mistake not to support Ukraine right now. There is a need to work in favor of Ukraine."
In an interview with La Stampa newspaper, Tajani said about the victory of "pro-Russian" Robert Fico in the elections in Slovakia and his announcement that he would stop arms aid to Ukraine as a first step, "This is not a positive message. The choices regarding Ukraine must be unitary. There should be no cracks on the European front because the EU's strength lies in its unity. Ukraine is fighting for all of us and we should support it. Let's see what Fico will do beyond the rhetoric, he has not yet taken office."
