They mislead the brains of Parkinson's patients and create "the feeling that someone is behind them". The aim is to develop a new diagnosis and treatment method for the disease.

Swiss scientists have announced that they have identified a new symptom of Parkinson's disease, which affects the brain's muscle control mechanism.

"YOU GET THE FEELING THAT SOMEONE IS BEHIND YOU"

Scientists said, "Presence hallucination is the state of feeling that someone is behind you even though no one is there. With the robotic system, we created this feeling in humans. We discovered that Parkinson's patients are much more prone to this condition."

In experiments on 170 Parkinson's patients, it was concluded that these people misperceived the number of people in the environment.

EARLY DIAGNOSIS CAN SAVE LIVES
Scientists have developed a special virtual reality test on the same principle to catch the symptoms of Parkinson's. It is stated that early diagnosis can slow down the disease before it causes damage to the nervous system.

AGE OF ONSET MAY BE POSTPONED

Stating that they can increase the life expectancy of people suffering from this disease, scientists said, "Even if we cannot cure the disease, we can postpone the age of onset of symptoms to 100 or 110. In fact, this is in a way equivalent to treating the disease."

The disease, which manifests itself with uncontrollable tremors and twitching as a result of dopamine deficiency in the brain and progresses gradually, has no cure yet. There are more than 10 million Parkinson's patients in the world.
