The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a ballistic missile fired from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen hit the US container ship "Gibraltar Eagle".

The UK Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO) announced that a ship off the coast of Yemen was hit by a missile.

CENTCOM made a statement on its X account regarding the attack.

"At approximately 16:00 Sana'a time, Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired an anti-ballistic missile from the area they control in Yemen. The missile hit the Marshall Islands flagged, US-owned and US-operated container ship 'Gibraltar Eagle'," the statement read.

No one was injured and the ship suffered no significant damage, the statement said, adding that the ship continued to sail.

Earlier in the day, US forces detected the launch of a ballistic missile into the Red Sea, which failed and hit land in Yemen, causing no injuries or damage, the statement said.
