Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep, known for films such as The Iron Lady, Julie and Julia and Mamma Mia, will receive the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Streep will receive the Palme d'Or on the opening night of the festival. George Lucas, the famous director of the Star Wars saga, will receive the Palme d'Or Honoris Causa at the closing ceremony of the festival.
Streep last attended the Cannes Film Festival in 1989 with Evil Angels a Cry in the Dark.
This year's Cannes Film Festival, chaired by Greta Gerwig, director of Barbie, will be held between May 14-25.
