Former US President Donald Trump has warned that if he loses the presidential election in November, the country will "turn into a bloodbath".

"There will be a warrior in Washington," Trump said at a rally in Ohio days after securing enough delegates to secure the 2024 Republican nomination.

Calling the presidential election "the most important date" in US history, Trump portrayed his campaign for the White House as a turning point for the country.

Speaking about threats to the US auto industry, Trump said that if he was not elected, the country would "turn into a bloodbath", although it was not clear what he meant by this.

Criticizing Chinese plans to build cars in Mexico and sell them to Americans, Trump said, "We're going to put a 100 percent tariff on every single car that crosses the border, and if I'm elected, you won't be able to sell those cars."

"Now if I'm not elected it will be a bloodbath for the whole country, that will be the least, it will be a bloodbath for the country. This will be the least. But they will not be able to sell those cars."
