The largest stellar black hole ever discovered!

Astronomers have discovered the "largest" star-induced black hole in the Milky Way Galaxy, where Earth is located.

The European Space Agency's (ESA) Gaia mission, in collaboration with University College London (UCL) researchers, has reached a black hole called "Gaia-BH3", 33 times larger than the Sun.

The black hole, which was found to be 2 thousand light years away from Earth, could not be seen directly and was discovered thanks to a star "wobbling" in its orbit. It was also stated that more black holes could be discovered in the light of the data obtained from ESA's Gaia Space Telescope.

Pasquale Panuzzo from France's National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) said such a discovery could be "once in a lifetime". George Seabroke from UCL also pointed out that Gaia-BH3 is the "largest black hole of stellar origin" ever discovered and stated that the black hole has an important place for astronomers.

Meanwhile, it was noted that around 50 supermassive black holes have been discovered or identified in the Milky Way Galaxy so far.
