A fire in an apartment building in Vietnam's capital Hanoi caused a disaster.

In the fire that broke out in the 9-storey apartment building where 150 people live, the flames quickly surrounded the apartment building, dozens of 56 people died before they had a chance to escape.

37 people were injured and fire brigades rescued 70 people from the building.

Vietnamese media reported that the fire, which broke out at night, was extinguished within a few hours and that there was only one exit in the building and there was no fire escape ladder.

It is also stated that there are many children among the dead.

Vietnam has recently experienced fire disasters in which many people have died. Last year, 32 people were killed in a bar fire in Ho Chi Minh City.
