According to CBS News, the Fort Worth Fire Department received reports of an explosion at the Sandman Hotel around 15:30 local time.
Fire officials said 21 people were injured in the explosion.
Noting that there was an odor of gas in the vicinity, officials said an investigation was opened into the explosion, the cause of which has not yet been determined.
Several eyewitnesses said they smelled natural gas in the area before the explosion.
