In a statement made by Spanish government sources to the EFE news agency, it was stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will arrive in Madrid in the coming days.

It was stated that Zelenski and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will sign the defense and security cooperation agreement between the two countries.

It was noted that the issue was also raised in Sanchez's phone conversation with Zelenski on May 7 and the two leaders agreed to meet in Madrid.

Zelenski had last visited Spain in October 2023 for the European Political Community meeting in Granada.

On the other hand, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, in a press conference today, refrained from answering a question about when Zelenski would come to Madrid for security reasons.

Albares emphasized that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "unjustified" and reiterated that Spain would continue to support Ukraine in every field as long as necessary.
