According to France Info, Paris City Hall, known as the Hotel de Ville, was searched as part of an investigation launched by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) in November 2023 against Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on charges of corruption and illegal profiteering.
In a written statement, Mayor Hidalgo said she was "relaxed and confident" in the face of the charges against her.
Hidalgo expressed his belief that justice would "reveal the truth".
An anti-corruption association filed a complaint against the mayor, alleging that Hidalgo used the municipal budget for personal expenses and illegal benefits during a visit to French Polynesia and New Caledonia on October 16-November 5, 2023.
The PNF then launched an investigation against Hidalgo in November 2023.
French Polynesia in the Pacific Ocean and New Caledonia in the Indo-Pacific are among France's overseas territories.
