The security agency of the state of Tamaulipas said in a statement published on X that soldiers were attacked by "armed civilians" while on patrol in the municipality of Miguel Aleman on the border with Texas. It did not respond to questions about whether any soldiers were killed or injured in the clash.
Authorities say there are several organized crime groups in the state of Tamaulipas whose main activities are human trafficking and drug trafficking.
