In a written statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson for Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, Shettima met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in China.

During the meeting, Chinese President Xi pledged to finance and complete Nigeria's Abuja-Kano and Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri railway projects, the statement said.

Noting that China will invest more in Nigeria's energy production and digital economy, Xi was quoted as saying that Nigeria-China bilateral relations will be stronger than before.

Shettima, on the other hand, underlined the vital importance of railway projects for the Nigerian people and stated that these projects will further contribute to the country's economy, create jobs, increase trade and investment.
