In a statement made on the OpenAI X social media platform, it was noted that work is underway to pause access to "Sky", one of the voiceover options for chatting with ChatGPT.
"We believe that AI voiceovers should not intentionally mimic a celebrity's authentic voice. Sky's voice is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson, but a different professional actress using her own natural speaking voice."
Many ChatGPT users compared the "Sky" option to Johansson's voice in the 2013 movie "Her", in which she voices an AI operating system.
OpenAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sam Altman's use of the word "Her" in his post on his X account as part of the introduction of the new version of ChatGPT, GPT-4o, also increased the debate in this direction.
Thanks to the "Voice Mode" that ChatGPT launched in September 2023 and made available for free access in November, users can chat with an artificial intelligence model by choosing one of 5 voices, including "Sky".

In 2023, Johansson came up with a similar issue. Lisa AI: In an application called 90s Yearbook & Avatar, the voice of the famous name was used by an artificial intelligence.
Johansson then filed a lawsuit against the app for using her name and voice without her permission.
