In a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office Number 10, it was reported that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ordered the deployment of the British military to the Eastern Mediterranean to "support Israel, strengthen regional stability and prevent escalation of tensions".
The Royal Navy's "RFA Argus" and "RFA Lyme Bay" ships will be sent to the Eastern Mediterranean, the statement said, adding that maritime patrol and surveillance aircraft will start flying in the region from tomorrow to monitor threats to regional stability.
It was also shared that the Royal Navy task group will go to the Eastern Mediterranean next week as an emergency measure to support humanitarian aid efforts.
ISRAEL-ISRAEL CONFLICT
On the morning of October 7, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel under the name "Aqsa Flood".
While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, Palestinian armed groups stormed the Beit Hanoun-Erez border crossing on the Gaza-Israel border and seized it.
The armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel, and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of warplanes.
It was reported that 1300 Israelis were killed and 3,300 Israelis were wounded in the attacks organized from Gaza.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 1417 people lost their lives and 6,268 people were injured in Gaza during the Israeli attacks.
It was also stated that 31 Palestinians were killed and approximately 180 people were injured in the attacks of Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the West Bank.
