A passenger plane had to make an emergency landing due to a threatening note found in the lavatory. There was a bomb scare on a United Airline flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to Los Angeles.

According to the first information provided by the police, 2 hours after takeoff, a note was found in the lavatory of the plane saying that "the plane would explode". The plane carrying 202 passengers was then diverted for an emergency landing at Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

Security forces evacuated the passengers and searched the plane for hours with police dogs but found nothing.

"At this time, there is no indication of an imminent threat to public safety or property," the Chicago Office of the FBI said in a statement.

Following the bomb threat, which turned out to be unfounded, the plane departed from Chicago back to Los Angeles International Airport.
