The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) made a statement regarding the incident that occurred on the "Boeing 737-800" model passenger plane.
According to the statement, the engine cover of Southwest Airlines' Denver-Houston flight dislodged and hit the wing flap during takeoff.
Southwest Airlines reported that the plane landed safely back in Denver after the incident and Houston passengers were put on another plane.
The flight was canceled on April 4 due to an engine fire on another plane of the same model scheduled to take off from Texas.
The FAA noted that investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
