According to a statement made by Microsoft, the company will own a minority stake in G42 with an investment of 1.5 billion dollars.

As part of the agreement, Microsoft President Brad Smith will take part in G42's board of directors. G42 will run its applications and services on Microsoft's cloud computing platform Azure to provide advanced artificial intelligence solutions to its customers, especially the public sector.

Microsoft and G42 will work together to bring advanced AI and digital infrastructure to countries in the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. The two companies will also support the establishment of a $1 billion fund for developers to boost AI skills in the UAE.

Already partnered with OpenAI, developer of ChatGPT, G42 is developing AI for applications ranging from cloud computing to self-driving cars.
