It was announced that Secret Service agents protecting Joe Biden's grandson opened fire on three people who broke the window of the protection vehicle.

An official told AP that agents assigned to protect Naomi Biden were out with granddaughter Biden in the Georgetown neighborhood late Sunday night when they saw three people smashing the window of a parked and empty SUV.

One of the agents opened fire but no one was hurt, the Secret Service said in a statement. The three men were seen fleeing in a red car, and the Secret Service said it has issued a regional bulletin to the Metropolitan Police to be on the lookout for this incident.

Washington DC and the surrounding area have seen a significant increase in carjackings and carjackings this year. Police reported more than 750 carjackings and more than 6,000 stolen vehicles reported this year.

Violent crime in Washington has also increased by more than 40 percent this year compared to last year.
