According to the news in the national press, some airline companies decided to cancel scheduled flights due to fuel supply problems.
Airline company Avianca announced that 69 flights, including 4 international flights, were canceled, citing the fuel crisis.
It was stated that Avianca may cancel 108 more flights tomorrow if the problem is not resolved.
Latam will also cancel 36 flights
Latam, another airline, announced that it will cancel 36 flights starting tomorrow for the same reason.
In the statements made by Avianca and Latam, it was informed that free ticket changes or refunds will be provided free of charge for up to 1 year in line with the demands of the customers.
Transportation Minister Maria Costanza Garcia said in a statement regarding the fuel supply problem, “We are reviewing how the supply chain works and how operations are carried out. We have learned that some airlines have decided not to sell tickets this week to maintain flexibility in flights. These are preventive measures.”
In a post on his X account, Garcia also stated that the cancellation of flights was in violation of the Colombian Aviation Regulations and that he had given instructions to investigate the process.
According to the news on the El Colombiano website, airline companies canceled flights due to the decision of distributors to limit their shipments across the country.
