Archaeologists from the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, who are conducting excavations in Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage site and have made many discoveries over the years, have uncovered a wall painting (fresco) with relatively little damage to its colors in one of the excavation areas.
The nearly 2,000-year-old mural depicts the story of the twin brothers Phrixus and Helle from Greek mythology, archaeologists said yesterday.

According to Greek mythology, a golden-skinned ram is sent to Phrixus and Helle who want to escape from their stepmother.
The two brothers fled on the ram and when they were near the Dardanelles, Helle fell off the ram and drowned. The colorful fresco unearthed in Pompeii depicts this mythological story.
