According to a statement made by the Los Angeles Police, the Buddha statue, which weighs about 114 kilograms and is worth 1.5 million dollars, was stolen from the Barakat Gallery on September 18.

In the incident captured on security cameras, it is seen that the thieves arrived at the gallery in a pickup truck and loaded the statue, which was in the backyard of the gallery, into the truck.

Fayez Barakat, the owner of the gallery, told local media that the sculpture was very valuable, "This sculpture was previously in the backyard of my house, then we brought it to the backyard of the gallery so that everyone could see and admire it."

Barakat noted that he bought the work, which belongs to the Edo Period (1603-1867) in Japan, 55 years ago.
