Just one minute into Game 4 against the Philadelphia 76ers, Bogdanovic suffered an ankle injury while battling Nic Batum for a loose ball. After some hand fighting, Batum jumped for the ball and clumsily landed on Bogdanovic's lower leg, causing the 35-year-old to instantly fall to the floor in pain. He did not return to the game.

Before the game, Bogdanovic had an MRI on his ankle, which revealed ligament damage. However, the veteran was planning to play through the injury for the rest of the playoffs - that's why he entered Sunday's game - and opted for surgery after the season.

Bogdanovic's injury is just the latest for New York.

New York, which has been without Julius Randle since the end of January, was also without Mitchell Robinson in Game 4 after he suffered an ankle injury in Game 3.

Without Bogdanovic and possibly Robinson, the Knicks bench includes Miles McBride, Precious Achiuwa, Jericho Sims and Alec Burks.

Bogdanovic, acquired from the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline for scoring depth off the bench, has filled his role well in 29 games for New York, averaging 10.4 points in 19.2 minutes per game.

In the previous three games of the first-round series before his injury, Bogdanovic averaged 8.0 points per game off the bench and shot 6-for-15 from three-point range.
